Welcome to Big County 105.7
As the appointed time arrives, WQAH-FM now concludes its final broadcast after twenty-five years of serving North Central Alabama over the air on 105.7 FM, and listeners nationwide on WQAH.com. As we wind down our operations today and prepare to hand over this frequency to our successor, we want to pause and express our deepest gratitude.
For a quarter of a century, it has been our absolute honor to fill your homes, cars, and workplaces with the sounds of classic & traditional country, bluegrass, gospel, and a little bit of comedy. From the deep canopy of the Bankhead National Forest to the shores of Smith Lake, across the waters of the Tennessee River,—and every city, town, and community in between—our signal has traveled across this beautiful landscape we are all proud to call home.
We take great pride in having fulfilled our sacred duty to serve in the public interest by providing up-to-the-minute emergency alerts, critical weather updates, and complementary community messaging to the schools, churches, and civic organizations that hold our communities together. To our listeners in Winston, Cullman, Lawrence, Morgan, Lauderdale, Limestone, and Madison counties: thank you for having trusted us to keep you informed, safe, and entertained.
Speaking for our entire team, this incredible journey would have been impossible without our partners. We extend our heartfelt appreciation to our local advertisers who supported our vision, and to our dedicated staff and behind-the-scenes crews—both past and present—who poured their hearts into every single broadcast. Most importantly, I give all glory and praise to my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, whose grace, guidance, and sustaining love made this entire journey possible.
Though our voice on this frequency now prepares to go silent, the memories, the music, and the connections we share will live on. With misty eyes, I am reminded of a classic made popular by The Carter Family that has brought so much comfort over the years. No matter what tomorrow brings, we encourage you to keep on the sunny side, always on the sunny side—keep on the sunny side of life. Thank you, North Central Alabama, and our listeners across the nation, for the privilege of a lifetime. God bless you, and for the very final time, this is Keith Abercrombie for Big Country 105.7 WQAH-FM and WQAH.COM...signing off.
